THEME: Putting what we have learned into practice

AGENDA:

1. (4:30 - 4:45) Reflecting on our relationship with teaching and learning

2. (4: 45 - 5:45) Tuning Protocol using a mathematics formative assessment (Gina Pierce)

3. (5:45 - 6:15) Dinner: Getting ready for the second year - Surveys

4. (6:15 - 7:00) Mathematical Investigations activities:

  1. You are making a box to store 24 cubes.  What kind of box would require the smallest amount of material?
  2. Pong Lo wanted one grain of rice on the first day, 2 on the second, 4 on the third and keep doubling the amount for 100 days. How many grains of rice did he have after 100 days?
  3. Estimate how many grains of rice can fit in one cubic centimeter. Based on that information figure out in how many days your classroom would be full of rice.
  4. How much space would Pong Lo need to store all the rice he got in 100 days?
